Lindsey's Knee Injury

I know it's been a long time since we have updated our family blog and many of your have been concerned and asking about Lindsey's knee so here is the full story of what had happen to our little princess.

It was around the end of July when Lindsey woke up one morning and her right knee was swollen about five times bigger then her left it was about the size of a softball. She could hardly walk so Rich took her to Urgent care. They took x-ray's on it and thought she might have a skin bacterial infection so they prescribed antibiotics ans away she went. Well the next day the swelling had not gone down and she was in a lot of pain so we took her to her doctor and found that that Urgent Care had misdiganosted her so he instructed us to take to her the hospital as soon as possible.

Well we spend several days in the Children's Hospital trying to figure out what happen to her knee. After several x-ray's and an MRI the doctors decided to go in and extract the fluid from the joint in her knee and flush it out. That was the hardiest thing Rich and I had went through, it was horrible having to watch our little girl be put under and going to surgery and we couldn't be there with her. I never realized how hard parenting could be until that moment. The waiting game was awful it was the longest hour of our life. After they flushed out her knee, the doctors did find some white particles in the fluid in which they send out for a culture test. After spending four long day's in the hospital the doctors could not give us a full diagnose of what she had. They thought she might have what is called Rheumatol Juvenile Arthritis since she had fluid in her joints. So we were referred to a knee specialist to have them check her out. She was a trooper through this whole experience I think it was harder on Rich and I then Lindsey.

We have seen the knee specialist twice now and they are still running tests. The doctor is pretty much ruling out that she has Juvenile Arthritis but since her knee is still swollen he may want to do another MRI to check the fluid again and she may need to go for physical therapy. So we are keeping our figures crossed that she will heal in time and hopefully we don't have to take her for another MRI...I don't think I can deal with that again. Her next doctor visit is on September 23rd, I will post an update of that visit.
